Now, I really don&#8217;t like running installers in general, because they clutter the system and the Registry, so I was nicely surprised when I learned that both the latest version of Ghidra, and also latest version of Java&#8217;s JDK that Ghidra requires can be downloaded as a ZIP file (aka portable version)&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, with that in mind, it turns out that today you can install Ghidra in a portable way w\/o running any installers! All you have to do is this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Download <em>https:\/\/download.oracle.com\/java\/23\/latest\/jdk-23_windows-x64_bin.zip<\/em> and unpack it to say <em>c:\\jdk-23.0.1\\<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Download <em>https:\/\/github.com\/NationalSecurityAgency\/ghidra\/releases\/download\/Ghidra_11.2_build\/ghidra_11.2_PUBLIC_20240926.zip<\/em> and unpack it to say <em>c:\\ghidra_11.2_PUBLIC\\<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You then run:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">cmd.exe<br>cd c:\\ghidra_11.2_PUBLIC\\<br>path=c:\\jdk-23.0.1\\bin;%PATH%<br>ghidraRun<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you launch Ghidra this way, you will soon be seeing the familiar EULA window:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hexacorn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ghidra2.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hexacorn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ghidra2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9561\" width=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hexacorn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ghidra2.png 986w, https:\/\/www.hexacorn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ghidra2-300x150.png 300w, https:\/\/www.hexacorn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ghidra2-768x384.png 768w, https:\/\/www.hexacorn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ghidra2-500x250.png 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 986px) 100vw, 986px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>and after accepting it, you are all set:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hexacorn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ghidra3.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"507\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hexacorn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ghidra3.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9563\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hexacorn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ghidra3.png 507w, https:\/\/www.hexacorn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ghidra3-190x300.png 190w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 507px) 100vw, 507px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today I wanted to upgrade my Ghidra setup so I downloaded its latest version.
