{"id":4713,"date":"2018-03-31T22:35:11","date_gmt":"2018-03-31T22:35:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hexacorn.com\/blog\/?p=4713"},"modified":"2025-12-07T00:03:37","modified_gmt":"2025-12-07T00:03:37","slug":"the-little-known-i-think-secret-of-hosts-ics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hexacorn.com\/blog\/2018\/03\/31\/the-little-known-i-think-secret-of-hosts-ics\/","title":{"rendered":"The little known (I think) secret of hosts.ics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today I discovered that while everyone knows one can use the c:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\hosts file to introduce static entries to the DNS resolver there is one more file that can be utilized for this purpose.<\/p>\n<p>It is a hosts.ics (c:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\hosts.ics) file that was originally designed to support the Internet Connection Sharing service.
